| The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) identified the nation’s top 100 Spring Allergy Capitals™ – the most severe cities for people with allergies during the spring season.
The 2004 Spring Allergy Capitals™ were determined based on three factors – a city’s pollen levels, per capita use of over-the-counter and prescription allergy medication, and the number of Board Certified allergists per capita. Each of the three factors was weighted, in consultation with medical and research experts, to reflect its importance as an indicator of allergy severity. The weighted factors in each market were tallied to assign a total score that determined the city’s ranking as a Spring Allergy Capital™. If you live in or visit a Spring Allergy Capital™ and suffer from seasonal allergies, there are things you can do to stay active without suffering from allergy symptoms.
